Holi is the festival celebrated mainly in spring season. This festival is the symbol of colors and happiness. Holi is a celebration of two days where one day a bonfire or Holika is celebrated and on the other day, is the actual Holi which is played with beautiful colours. It is very popular festival of North India that has become much popular in souther Asia as well.

There is a symbolic legend to elucidate why Holi is widely known as a pageant of colors. The word “Holi” originates from “Holika”, the evil sister of the demon king Hiranyakashipu. The demon-king fined his son, Prahlad in an exceedingly type of ways in which to denounce Lord Narayana. He failed all in his tries to kill prahlad. Finally, he asked his sister Holika to require Prahlad in her lap and enter a blazing hearth. Holika had a boon to stay unburned even within hearth. Holika did her brother’s bidding. However, Holika’s boon concluded by this act of supreme sin against the Lord’s follower and was burnt to ashes. This can be why, every year, the Holika is burnt to ashes as a logo of burning and destroying all that's evil.

The pageant of Holi will be thought to be a celebration of the colours of Unity and Brotherhood – a chance to forget all variations and cherish pure fun. It’s historically been celebrated in high spirit with none distinction of caste, creed status or race. But also be careful while playing with colours because they may contain some harmful chemicals.
